The Trip
- Tour Code: Australia 2013
DATES
Everything really depends on the dates of the 2013 Australian Championship meetings. Sadly the organisers are always late in confirming the dates, but usually they are held during the first 2 weeks of January. However we have to make an
early decision and the (probable) departure date will probably be 28 December 2012. The duration will again be approx 3 weeks. However we will guarantee that you will celebrate New Year in the sunshine!!
SYDNEY
Where do we go? No visit to Australia will be complete without a stay in that magnificent harbour city of SYDNEY. We always save 4/5 full days in SYDNEY. and included in your holiday cost will be a fully escorted full day tour around the beautiful city, harbour and suburbs. We take in SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE. and during our stay there will be plenty of time to visit the magnificent beaches at MANLY, a seafood lunch at the” Rocks” as well as optional day trips to the fabulous BLUE MOUNTAINS.
ADELAIDE
To many this is the unspoilt “pearl” of Aussie. The city has a wonderful ambiance and is extremely easy to find your way around. The nearby Adelaide Oval cricket ground is lovely, and of course the tracks at Gillman, Murray Bridge and of course
Mildura are all hot beds of Aussie Speedway. Other attractions include the magnificent BAROSSA VALLEY where some of the regions top wines are grown on the slopes of the valley.
OUTBACK AUSSIE
Aussie is massive; the same size as USA, yet with the population of London, and indeed once you leave the 5 major cities, there are few significant areas of large
development. Certainly when we leave Sydney and travel inland to Speedway’s birthplace of MAITLAND you will see just how isolated the region can be. Hopefully NEWCASTLE will have some Speedway action, if not Kurri-Kurri which is a new track in NSW.
PERTH
On the west coast is known by all aussies as “God’s Country” It has one of the best climates in the world yet alone Australia. These days the city has swallowed up Fremantle and extends many miles up the coast of the warm Indian Ocean. The air is so clean and fresh here, and each day the “Fremantle Doctor” a cooling breeze off the Ocean blows in, and cools the countryside. Hopefully we will meet up with several Speedway personalities like John Berry who are lucky enough to live in this wonderful area.
CAIRNS
Gateway to the Barrier Reef, this city in Northern Queensland is situated in the lush “Rain Forest” and part of your holiday will include a visit inland on the fabulous “Sky train”. A whole day will be set aside to join an optional tour to the incredible BARRIER REEF. Aboard the modern very quick Trimaran, you speed across the Ocean right out to the Reef itself. Plenty of time to swim and snorkel as you take in this majestic region. For the non-swimmers there is an opportunity to take a mini-sub tour of the main reef, complete with views of fabulous
marine life.
HONG KONG STOPOVER
Over the years we have visited many countries in this region, but this time we are taking in new territory when we visit the fabulous former UK Colony of HONG KONG. Because of the various time zones we will be making our stop-over on the return journey from Australia. Without doubt KOWLOON is the better destination and we will be including a memorable half day excursion of Hong Kong Island, taking in “The Peak” a superb photo opportunity, Stanley Market before heading back for a tour across Hong Kong harbour. We plan to spend a day visiting MAINLAND CHINA, travelling across the harbour by a fast Hovercraft, visiting this fascinating country and later returning by train to Hong Kong.
NOTE
The final itinerary will be published 01 July 2012. The advertised price is a guide. However we do not expect a major change to the figure advised. Once having received the itinerary and final costing, should you then decide NOT to travel you will receive a full refund of deposit.
This tour will operate to a maximum of 40 persons per coach for operational reasons. At the time of publication the 1st bus is already full, but there are some places available on Bus No.2
