WORLD CUP RACE-OFF
An early departure from STANSTED will have us in GOTHENBURG mid morning, in ample time to allow us to reach our BRAND NEW DESTINATION of JONKOPING well before lunch. JONKOPING is the 9th largest city in Sweden and is situated at the southern end of the huge LAKE VATTERN. It is a busy city with a modern pedestrianised centre and a tourist friendly reputation, with a great choice of bars, cafés and restaurants. We will be staying in the 4star SCANDIC HOTEL close to the main harbour and city centre. MALILLA is around 150 kms away on clear roads, and being in mid-summer the nights are short. The WORLD CUP run-off takes place on Thursday evening and great seats have been reserved.
FRIDAY
JONKOPING has a busy market centre, and there are many good cafés in the heart of the city. We will be arranging a half day city tour. PLUS a visit to the world famous HUSKVARNA complex just 30 minutes away. Famous for its huge history with Motocross bikes. and all things mechanical … and the museum is part of the tour.
Lake VATTERN has some amazing sandy beaches close to the city centre, and the whole area is a mecca for summer swimming and sunbathing.
SATURDAY
WORLD CUP FINAL
A relaxing morning in the city, and subject to availability we will be organising a few hours cruise on the huge LAKE VATTERN before we head off to the WORLD CUP FINAL in MALILLA. Demand for seats is going to be high, and with SWEDEN guaranteed a place in the final it will be a massive event as they try to take the crown from the previously allconquering Poles. Start time in this purpose built Grand Prix stadium will be 7.00pm, but we are in mid-summer and hopefully it will be a lovely sunny evening to match the event.
SUNDAY 15 JULY 2012
There is always the possibility of a rain off, so we will be taking the later flight back from GOTHENBURG just to allow us extra time. Should we haveample time then we will be making a stop in the city for an early evening meal.
